June was the month of the much publicised #loveLIVES Appeal which Multitech supported and in doing so helped to raise £400K in 50 Days. The Appeal was set up by the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, KPMG and Construction News magazine to help 200 apprentices and adult learners after an issue caused funding to be cut with just four months of their course left to run. The £400k came from combined pledges from construction companies and contractors including Multitech. A fantastic achievement and one that we are very proud to have been a part of.
This month has seen our Design Team preparing tenders for a lot of new enquiries many of which have already been passed to our Contracts Department to commence. Twenty-six new projects were awarded to Multitech during June and we are anticipating an increase on that number in July.
Expansion Work is due to start on 1st July in the newly acquired unit in Dunmow where plant and equipment servicing will be moved to once the internal construction work is complete. An additional unit has also been secured in the Midlands which will double the size of the Multitech operation in Wellingborough.
Safety Managing Director Guy Scilly has carried out site visits and safety inspections on sites in our South region accompanied by Safety Consultants HawkSafe. The temporary electrics installations were found to be of very good quality and clients reported Multitech Operatives are providing an excellent level of service.
Since 1998 Multitech has had an embedded safety culture, so whilst the results of our monthly inspections are not surprising they are nonetheless pleasing and shows that our focus on safety and service is worthwhile.
Website Multitech like to lead by example and when hearing that Google had changed their algorithm to change the way it measures ranking for mobile search, we set about making our website fully responsive and mobile friendly. Try it for yourself – you’ll see how the site reformats itself on mobile devices.
People Concerns are growing that there may be ‘something in the water’ in the Midlands with congratulations go out to two of our Wellingborough Engineers: To Tim Briggs on the birth of his Daughter and to Mark Denton on the birth of his Son. We wish them and their families all the very best for the future.
Our recruitment drive has been very successful - new team members in support positions are now going through training in preparation for the busy season which will soon be with us. We are still looking for talented people to fill other roles - please check out our Careers Page for details or to be considered for future roles CVs can be sent to email@example.com
Face-Fit Testing As many readers will already know, Face-Fit Testing is a 2015 initiative that requires workers exposed to airborn particles to wear tight fitting RPE. Members of our teams in the South East and Midlands are now fully trained in Qualitative Fit Testing and have been ensuring our affected site operatives have been Face-Fit Tested and provided with appropriate RPE.
Charity Multitech supported the Wallace & Gromit’s Wrong Trousers Day on Friday 26th June by having a dress down day with a focus on wearing wrong trousers. Many staff took part with great hilarity and they also organised a charity raffle and baked cakes which were sold with all proceeds being donated to the Wallace and Gromit’s Children’s Charity.
A big thank you to all clients and staff for the support and hard work so far during 2015. Albeit typically British to say, but it’s hard to believe we’re already half way through the year. The next couple of months for Multitech will be busy as always, but for all those off on holidays we wish you a very happy, safe time.
